West High Increasing Breakfast Participation

Green Bay West High logoGreen Bay West High students are enjoying school breakfast at an increased frequency this fall. Starting the year, less than 150 students participated regularly. Within the last week, more than 200 have been participating each day. This is nearly 25% of the student population at West. Michele Salzsieder, head cook/kitchen lead, said: “I tried to thank every student who came through today, that without them I could never have reached my personal goal [of over 200 breakfasts]. It is because of them that I am here, well they did it again 213. Not only do they (the students) make my day. I want to tell you that they clean up so well that you would never know that we served that many students. I feel blessed to be a part of the West High community!”
West High is part of Green Bay's Community Eligibility Provision programming, which offers breakfast and lunch at no cost to 21 of the District's schools.
