Staff Achievements

  • Congrats to Southwest High School's Physical Education department and Danz Elementary School for being awarded a $2,500 grant and $1,000 grant, respectively, from Action for Healthy Kids. Southwest's funds will be used for additional equipment for their aerobics room and to further develop the student mentoring program for their Adaptive Phy Ed course. 
  • Congratulations to the following GBAPS educators who earned a Master of Art Education from Viterbo University last July: Katelyn Hoetschl, Behavior Focus at Beaumont Elementary School; Shelly Pirman, 1st grade at Danz Elementary School; and Mandy Walton, Literacy Coach at Howe Elementary School (Mandy also earned a reading specialist license).
  • Congratulations to Laurie Spence and the Culinary students at Preble High School for being awarded the Red Cross Youth Heroes award on September 24.
  • On September 28, District orchestra teachers Christopher Kraly (Lombardi Middle School, Southwest High School), TJ Lutz (Franklin Middle School, Red Smith School), and Adam Brown (East High School, Howe Elementary School, Nicolet Elementary School, Fort Howard Elementary School, Keller Elementary School) joined members of UW-Green Bay's music faculty and dozens of other local musicians as members of the newly-formed Weidner Philharmonic orchestra.   • Congratulations to MacArthur Elementary School teacher Mary Tomasiak for being named WIXX Teacher of the Month. Click here to see Mary receiving this special recognition.
  • Congratulations to Maria Hernandez from Edison Middle School for receiving the District's Extra Mile for Exceptional Customer Service award. A parent shared that "Maria creates a positive culture at Edison Middle School as she always welcomes people, smiles at them and gladly helps them." 
  • Congrats to Southwest High School for earning a Bronze level for the Wisconsin School Health/Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Award. This award signifies Southwest's commitment to providing students a safe and positive learning environment where they can be successful.
  • The Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance held the 8th Annual Excellence in Manufacturing/K-12 Partnership Awards on Tuesday, October 29. Congratulations to members of the GBAPS team who received an Honorable Mention for their work in advancing education in the areas of STEM:

  • Congratulations to Mark Strohschein, emeritus agriscience teacher from East High School, for being nominated by the Wisconsin Association of Future Farmers of America (FFA) to receive the Honorary American FFA Degree. This special recognition was presented at the National FFA Convention at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, on November 1, 2019.
  • Congratulations to Student Learning Advocate Erika Soto from Edison Middle School for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. A former student recommended Erika because she builds a great bond with students and really goes the extra mile when it comes to working and trying her best. The student said, "We need more people like her!"
  • On Thursday, November 7 at the Foundations Health & Wholeness Ethics Award Luncheon, Green Bay Area Public School District was the recipient of the Non-profit Ethics Award. The award recognizes the importance of the ethical decisions GBAPS staff make every day as they serve students and families. In addition, it acknowledges the efforts of our staff and students to protect and preserve the environment. In addition, the District received the 2019 Excel Award from the Greater Green Bay Community Foundation, which is $5,000 to further enhance the effectiveness and increase the innovative capabilities of the recipient of the Non-profit Ethics Award's top leadership.
  • The Green Bay Area Public School District Communications Department received two awards of merit for Excellence in Communication from the Wisconsin School Public Relations Association. The awards were for a recruitment brochure and the "Our Schools at a Glance" brochure.
  • Congratulations to Eisenhower Elementary School's Jose (Tony) Escandell, a student learning advocate, on receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Tony was recognized for providing extraordinary customer service, greeting staff and students with a smile, and for forming positive relationships with students who need extra support.
  • Congratulations to McAuliffe Elementary School's Randy Van Lanen, a facility technician, on receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Randy was recognized for providing extraordinary customer service, keeping McAuliffe Elementary School looking great, helping the McAuliffe PTO with its events, creating bonds with the students and for having a contagious positive energy. 
  • Our District has been chosen to receive a $150,000 grant from the NEA Foundation. This grant will be used to create an interdisciplinary curriculum that builds from one grade level to the next at King Elementary School, MacArthur Elementary School, Lombardi Middle School, and Southwest High School. In addition, this grant will help develop opportunities such as job shadowing and work-based learning experiences for students at Southwest High School.
  • Congratulations to District Help Desk Technician Zach Allen for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Zach helps staff, parents, and any one who contacts the Help Desk with questions regarding their technology and he does it with a smiling voice. 
  • Congratulations to McAuliffe Elementary School secretary Sarah Cruz for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. A parent said Sarah is the "absolute sweetest" and the school is lucky to have  her.
  • Congrats to Melissa Heffernan from Nicolet Elementary School and Ellie Hinz-Radue from West High School for earning their National Board Certification.
  • Congratulations to Heidi Gallagher, Production Manager of Food Services at the Auxiliary Services Building, for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. A parent nominated Heidi for being proactive, responsive, and going above and beyond to help with catering for teachers.
  • Congratulations to Beaumont Elementary School secretary Abby Gezella for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. She was nominated for "making everyone feel welcome and every student well-cared for" and for "[having] implemented several new ideas that have enhanced the building’s atmosphere and efficiency."
  • Wequiock Elementary School received a $6,000 grant from the Green Bay Packer Foundation as well as a $10,000 award from the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) WISELearn. Both grants will be used to partner with Wisconsin Green Schools Network coaches to develop and co-teach ten outdoor learning lessons for students in grades 4K-5 at their school. Congratulations!
  • Congratulations to West High School science teacher Tonya Young for being chosen as one of the recipients of the Innovative Educator Grant through Wisconsin Public Service Foundation. The $1,000 grant will be used for Gel Electrophoresis chambers to be used in IB Biology and Biology classes. 
  • Congratulations to Kennedy Elementary School teacher Ryan Nichols for being named WIXX Teacher of the Month. Ryan was nominated by a student who said, "He treats all students like they are his own and he goes above and beyond to help kids succeed!"
  • Congratulations to Dr. Heather Totman, District-wide Educational Audiologist, for being named the 2020 Audiologist of the Year by the Wisconsin Speech and Hearing Association. This award is given to a Wisconsin audiologist who has been recognized for providing outstanding professional service.
  • Congratulations to Aldo Leopold Community School teacher Ned Dorff and West High School behavior intervention teacher John Saharsky for receiving honorable mention in the Green Bay Press Gazette's 2019 People of the Year.
  • Congrats to the following staff members for receiving the District's Extra Mile Exceptional Customer Service Award:
    Doris Bethke, monitor at Preble High School - Doris' demeanor gives off a lot of positive energy to Preble students as well as the visitors at Preble.
    Dana Farra, paraprofessional at Langlade Elementary School - Dana is willing to help anyone with anything while always keeping a smile on her face and kindness in her attitude. Dana is a shining example of what makes Green Bay an excellent district in which to work and to educate our children.
    Emilie Heil, Community Programs Coordinator at Aldo Leopold Community School - Emilie does a tremendous job of seeking out and coordinating unique and meaningful experiences for our kiddos! She is genuine and kind and it shows in every interaction with her.
    Kelli Vardigan, art teacher at Elmore Elementary School - Kelli pours her heart and soul into working with our students at Elmore! Kelli makes accommodations for students and works extra hard to make sure all students feel successful in her classroom.
  • Congrats to Community Schools Resource Coordinator Diana Delbecchi and West High School teacher Lisa Merkel for being named 2020 UWGB Distinguished Alumni. Diana and Lisa will be honored at an awards dinner on February 28. 
  • Congratulations to Special Education Executive Secretary Xai Lawrence for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Xai was nominated for her dedication, willingness to do whatever is needed to help families, and making everyone who comes to her feel like they are important. Xai's nominator said she "exudes what is the best in customer service."
  • Congratulations to Chappell Elementary School's IB Coordinator/GT Coordinator Jackie Brosteau and Physical Education teacher Andrew Wehlage for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Jackie consistently brings extra excitement and energy and her creative approach to instruction helps all Chappell learners. She makes amazing relationships with staff and students. Andrew knows exactly how to make physical education fun! Andrew’s passion for health and fitness evokes the same passion in his students.
  • Congratulations to Doty Elementary School noon supervisor Kim Maes for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Besides planning and executing everything from pizza parties, recess scavenger hunts, picture day and more, Kim also helps students who need support in reading, behavior or just someone to hang out with at recess. Kim knows every kid at Doty and goes above and beyond to support them and to support staff.

  • Congratulations to the following staff members for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service:
    Toni Davis, Howe Community School paraprofessional - Toni is a key piece in the Howe Community School. She is always going the extra mile for staff and students. She is always helping any student that comes her way to ensure that they are successful and loved at school.
    Nancy Strong, Lincoln Elementary School paraprofessional - Nancy is a true asset to the occupational and physical therapy department in the District. Her cleverness, creativity and resourcefulness have greatly enhanced the active participation and independence of many children with disabilities.
    Yanely (Nellie) Corona Jimenez, NEW School of Innovation secretary - Nellie is a compassionate and caring individual with students, staff, and families. Her calm demeanor has a significant positive impact on students who seek her out for advice and guidance. It is very apparent that students see her as someone who will listen regardless of the reason for the interaction. She has been a definite asset to the success of the NEW Innovation, especially in this first year of implementation.
    Janet Barrett, Preble High School monitor - Janet works tirelessly to get students to school safely in stressful conditions and keeps traffic flowing smoothly.
    Sue Tilkens, Washington Middle School monitor - Sue goes above and beyond in Washington's Reset Room. When students need to take a break and reset she is there. She is gentle yet holds the students accountable for their actions. 
  • Congratulations to Franklin Middle School Associate Principal Ashley Flowers for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Ashley was nominated for her dedication and focus on students. She goes the extra mile to help the team and support students, parents, and teachers with patience and kindness. Ashley's example is appreciated by the staff at Franklin.
  • Congratulations to West High School's Facilities Engineer David Trever for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service Award. David always ensures everything is ready for events at West and is incredibly helpful in trying to meet any unanticipated needs.
  • Congratulations to Ned Dorff, a teacher at Aldo Leopold Community School, for being selected as a 2020 Golden Apple Award recipient.
  • Congratulations also to Work Experience Coordinator Shane McDonough, Southwest High School teacher Brandon Rockstroh, and MacArthur Elementary School 4th grade teacher Sara Schiller for being named 2020 Herb Kohl Educational Foundation Teacher Fellow Award recipients. These educators were chosen for their superior ability to inspire a love of learning in their students, their ability to motivate others, and their leadership and service within and outside the classroom. Each recipient will receive a $6,000 award as well as a $6,000 matching award for their school.
  • Congratulations to Preble High School math teacher Brett Duffney for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. The student who submitted the nomination said Brett is "the most dedicated math teacher [she has] ever had. He’s so dedicated to helping students understand and achieve."
  • Congratulations to Chappell Elementary School teacher Kelly Schweda for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. She was nominated by a parent who says Kelly takes time out of her day to communicate with parents about their children to make sure everyone is on the same page. The parent feels blessed to have Kelly teach her children. 
  • Congratulations to Kennedy Elementary School Principal Aaron Manders and paraprofessional Gayle Peot for receiving the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service. Aaron was nominated for always engaging with the kids and playing outside at recess with them almost every day. Gayle's nominator said she is the first to offer help and advice to parents, staff and students. She is phenomenal with her students in the classroom and takes time for everyone in the building.
  • On March 4, Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld received the Nancy Armbrust Impact Award at the Women's Fund event. Dr. Langenfeld was honored with this award for being a strong advocate on behalf of all students, working to ensure equity and access while closing the opportunity gap.
  • Legal Counsel Melissa Thiel Collar, Manager of Employee Services Jennifer Vincent, and HR Specialist Mary Pliner received the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service for providing extraordinary customer service in communicating and assisting staff with the dependent verification process. A proactive communication plan ensured that all insured staff were aware of the need to complete the process. In addition, an abundance of opportunities were made available to staff to receive individual support in completing the process. Finally, one-on-one follow-up communications with employees who had not completed the process by the deadline were provided. This team provided above and beyond customer service, exceeding expectations, which resulted in a roadmap for future new initiatives in the District. 
  • Congratulations to West High School teacher Lisa Merkel and Howe Elementary School's Community Schools Resource Coordinator Diana Delbecchi for being honored at UW-Green Bay's 2020 Alumni Awards on February 28, 2020. 
  • We are so proud of the following District teachers for their leadership and hard work in the Kids Heart Challenge/Red Out events at their school. Through their efforts, they have taught their students about taking care of their own hearts, how to react in case of an emergency and given families the opportunity to fund lifesaving research all while having fun.   • We are proud to announce that Chappell Elementary School, Fort Howard Elementary School, and Keller Elementary School are among only 107 schools in the state to receive Wisconsin Title I School of Recognition honors in the 2019-20 school year! The Schools of Recognition award is presented to schools leveraging federal Title I funding to provide additional resources and services to students. These schools were recognized for high achievement, showing a high level of progression and for beating the odds.
  • Congratulations to the District's Volunteer and Community Partners Coordinator Amy Fish for receiving a $15,000 grant from the United Way Emergency Response Fund. From this grant, $12,000 will go towards the Weekend Food Distribution Program, a program in collaboration with several partners who distribute 600 bags on Fridays to families over the weekend, and $3,000 will go towards the purchase of basic school supplies that will be distributed to families in need.
  • Jen Brooks, a school counselor from Danz Elementary School, received the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service for providing extraordinary customer service by going above and beyond to help students at Danz Elementary. Jennifer is a very caring person with a heart of gold.
  • Jenny Newel, a Special Education paraprofessional from King Elementary School, received the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service for providing extraordinary customer service to the Special Education team at King Elementary School. Jenny has a calm and caring way about her to which kids instantly respond. She is a master at engaging the participation and de-escalating of the most difficult students with her patience, creativity, and kindness. Jenny is a hard worker and a problem-solver with great ideas. She is a champion for the students she supports and the entire King Elementary School community.
  • Courtney Peterson, a school psychologist from McAuliffe Elementary School, received the District Award for Exceptional Customer Service for providing extraordinary customer service by going above and beyond to support students and families. Courtney is an amazing listener and genuinely cares about students. She has been instrumental in setting up successful programs for struggling students. Courtney is an effective communicator, who is easy to talk to, listens without judgment, and quickly responds to emails and phone calls. She truly has a gift for working with challenging students.
  • Congratulations to the following staff members who received the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service.
    Holly Moser, kindergarten teacher at MacArthur Elementary School - Holly is a bright and cheery addition to the MacArthur staff. Despite the challenges of being a new kindergarten teacher, Holly does it with style and grace every day! She always has a smile on her face and is very welcoming to students and staff members. Holly has done an amazing job integrating herself into a new school and a new role.
    Jennifer Bartolazzi, art teacher at Keller Elementary School - While Jennifer teaches art at Keller only one and a half days per week, when looking around the school it would be easy to assume she is at Keller full-time. Keller Elementary is filled with student artwork, which brings the hallways to life. She has decorated common spaces with framed student art pieces, and collaborated with her students to paint a mural and several canvases that decorate the school. Jenny decorates the bulletin boards to reflect our school themes, and helps organize the annual Art and Culture Fair. She truly goes above and beyond!
    Lynn Boughton, occupational therapist at Beaumont Elementary School - When you meet Lynn, it is obvious that she has a genuine love for every child she serves. We have seen her ability to change lives with the individualized therapies she has offered. Lynn exemplifies excellence in the Green Bay Area Public School District.
    Brent Bergstrom, music teacher at Beaumont Elementary School - Brent engages his Beaumont students by including fun choreography that is exciting and developmentally appropriate. He also goes above and beyond as a director for the Southwest Spotlight Singers. Brent has worked to build a strong, competitive program. The Southwest Spotlight Singers recently celebrated a Grand Champion award in their division, and were awarded Best Vocals in the combined division at competition.
  • Congratulations to Southwest High School for being named a 2020 Best High School by U.S. News & World Report. Southwest achieved a national ranking which placed it in the top 40% of all U.S. high schools.
  • Congratulations to the following staff members who received the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service.
    Dawn Litkey, secretary at Keller Elementary School - Dawn has a constant, welcoming personality and attitude! Dawn always has a smile on her face and is willing to help with anything anyone needs.
    Rose Rottier, paraprofessional at Baird Elementary School - Rose truly cares deeply about our students, staff, and families. Students and teachers share that Mrs. Rose is a delight to know and to be working alongside. We love Mrs. Rose!
    Benjamin Osterberg, paraprofessional at Red Smith School - Benjamin helps the Food Service Department create a more efficient line flow at Red Smith School for students to receive their hot lunch. It is very apparent that Benjamin is focused on what is best for students.
    Sandy Notz, secretary at Friedrich Froebel Garden of Early Learning - Sandy greets each child as they come in the door each day letting them know how excited she is to have them at our school. She goes out of her way to help 4K families new to the Green Bay Area Public School District. Sandy is patient when answering questions new families have, while providing information on the 4K program and how to enroll. She exemplifies what good customer service looks like!
  • Congratulations to the following staff members who received the District's Extra Mile Award for Exceptional Customer Service.
    • Kim VanMieghan, special education teacher at Keller Elementary School - Kim works extremely hard to meet the needs of her students and supports school staff with strategies. Kim also has a smile and a positive attitude!
    • Daniel Younk, school resource officer at Washington Middle School - Daniel is compassionate and caring, treats all students with respect, and is an excellent role model for Washington students. He works collaboratively with staff and the administrative team to problem solve situations and helps to make Washington students feel safe and welcomed.
    • Trisha Smet, administrative intern at Kennedy Elementary School - Trisha has spent countless hours planning and preparing for the Title 1 Math and Literacy Night. She is also available to support students and staff during the school day to give students breaks and help teachers improve their instruction and behavior management abilities. Trisha is willing to take on any role needed to help Kennedy be a successful and lives Kennedy's motto "Caring About Relationships Equals Success." Trisha makes Kennedy a better place! View video.
    • Laurie Gherke, literacy coach at Nicolet Elementary School - Laurie shares techniques that she has picked up through her years of teaching and professional development. She is always willing to take time out of her day to explain a new technique or answer questions.
    • Shelby Schappa, 3rd grade teacher at Chappell Elementary School - Shelby calls parents with good and bad news. She is a phenomenal teacher and advocate for many children. Shelby is always so spunky and overall a great person! View video.
      Beth Boche, 3rd/4th grade teacher at Aldo Leopold Community School - Beth is amazing at replying to emails at all times, including those sent during the evening, to ensure students know the answer before attending school the next day. Beth has worked tirelessly to help students gain the knowledge they need to work independently.
    • Michelle Kihntopf, paraprofessional at Elmore Elementary School - Michelle gives 100% to the students at Elmore every day. Michelle has a positive attitude, no matter the situation. She uses her creativity to enhance the experiences of the students she serves regularly. Elmore is so fortunate to have Michelle!
    • Shaw Vue-Kong, school counselor at Edison Middle School - Shaw is amazing for parents to work with in regards to their children. Shaw has gained her students' trust and has become their support system. She communicates with parents on a regular basis. You can truly tell she cares about her students and takes each of their needs into consideration.
    • Justine Skog, associate principal/athletic director at Edison Middle School - Justine does a great job communicating with parents and students about activities, and working hard to get all kids involved. Thanks to Justine, Edison has a display board for brochures that were created for every activity at Edison with detailed information, in English and Spanish. Additionally, she has been helpful to the Edison Parent Network to brainstorm ideas.
    • Mary Ann Hitch, school social worker at Keller Elementary School - Mary Ann is always helpful, smiling and willing to do anything for the families and staff at Keller. She is truly one of a kind and Keller is so lucky to have her!
    • Bonnie Wallberg, teacher at West High School - Bonnie is a very detailed and organized teacher who is compassionate toward students. She is a positive influence on the West High School community. She is a teacher that explains math very well and makes sure students understand it. Bonnie deserves an extra pat on the back for all her hard work.
    • Vicki Santacroce, Library Media Coordinator at the District Office Building - Vicki works to provide library parity across the District for the benefit of students. She has completed the process of requisition and ordering all of the needed equipment, technology and furniture. She will continue working with the Facilities Department to freshen up library spaces as well. Vicki did a great job, and it will be exciting to see the final results this summer and fall when kids come back to school.
    • Haley Voigt, 2nd grade teacher at Fort Howard Elementary School - Haley smiles and plays with the kids; and parents love her. Her nominee said, "My grandchildren seek her out, even my grandson who is no longer her student." She is always there to help. Haley is a teacher that makes students happy to go to school.
    • Andrea (Ann) De La Torre, monitor/after school assistant at Howe Elementary School - During the last four years, Ann been a crucial part of Howe and has always gone above and beyond the expectations of her role. She has a special connection with the students, and has carried this over to her after school assistant position at Keller Elementary School. Ann is a great addition to the education of District students.
    • Sulema Castañeda, secretary at Nicolet Elementary School - Sulema has the best attitude and keeps the interests of our families at the forefront. Sulema is a shining light who is courteous, happy, thorough, and enthusiastic! Kudos to her for always going above and beyond!
    • Sandra Gomez, Equity Department clerical - Sandra always has a smile and keeps the office functioning at a high level. Sandra stops what she is doing to help others, yet is somehow able to keep it all together and accomplish responsibilities with exceptional quality, on time... if not earlier than expected. She is committed to her work supporting others in being effective in their work, never complains about her workload, and maintains a positive “can do" attitude, which is greatly appreciated. There aren’t any words deep enough to describe the level of care and compassion she has for the success of students and families in our District. Sandra is a joy to work with!
    • Amy Sabin, Pupil Services executive secretary - Amy always steps up to the plate regardless of the task at hand. Amy leads with grace, addresses everyone as family, and does an amazing job at everything she does. She is a problem-solver and has foresight to avoid problems before they happen. Amy is always a team player, committed to her work and constantly looking to help where she can. She is a HUGE asset!
    • Luis Franco-Toscano, bilingual family engagement coordinator - Luis is always willing to help out in any way. Luis looks through a lens of what is best for students and families. He is a great teammate that always leaves you with a laugh and smile, even in the toughest of situations. Luis challenges the status quo which helps our team grow in thought and theory. We are glad that he is a constant presence on our team... our team is stronger because of him.

  • Congratulations to West High School student Wolfgang Vetter for being selected as concertmaster for the 2020 High School Honors Performance Series Wind Ensemble. He performed at Carnegie Hall on Sunday, February 2.
  • Congrats to Preble High School's Sara Holub and the cast of "Mama Mia" who auditioned for, and were selected to perform at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center's "The Reveal" on March 9. "The Reveal" is the PAC's event to reveal their 2020-21 Broadway season and 20 cast members from Preble will be performing "Waterloo" as part of the event. 
  • Congratulations to Hannah Pamperin and Brittany Burkart for being this year's West High School recipients of the Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES) Award. Each year, Wisconsin’s top high school seniors are awarded the AES. Locally, this scholarship goes to the top two seniors at West, based on their seventh semester GPAs. The AES provides up to $2,250 per year for tuition at a Wisconsin college or university for up to four years.

  • Congratulations to the following Southwest High School students for being selected as outstanding performance winners of Gilder Lehrman’s Hamilton Online Education Program: Edestein Dahlin, Kayla Fuller and Anna George. These students were one of only 10 groups chosen as winners throughout the nation. They will be flown to New York to attend a matinee of Hamilton, meet the cast, and perform the song they wrote for the program.
  • Congrats to Webster Elementary School student Ella Sherwood for winning the Elementary Division award at the WI DPI Art Show in Madison. Ella was recognized at an awards ceremony in Madison on March 4 in the company of her family and Webster art teacher Candace Cole. Ella's piece was one of several hundred submissions from schools across Wisconsin, from which two pieces (one each for elementary and secondary) were selected. The art piece will be professionally framed and matted and will hang in the Capitol for the next year.

  • Congratulations to Preble High School and Southwest High School student athletes for a record-breaking performance at the Fox River Classic Conference swim meet on February 8 as part of the Green Bay United swim team. The relay team of Mikhail Neverman (Preble), Macoy Socha (Preble), Kaiser Neverman (Preble), and Riley Komp (Preble) took 1st Place in the 200 medley relay and set a pool record. The relay team of Connor Howe (Preble), Zach Karnz (Southwest), Riley Komp (Preble), and Kaiser Neverman (Preble) took 1st Place and set a pool record in the 400 freestyle relay. Kaiser Neverman took 1st Place and broke records in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly. Kaiser was also named FRCC Conference Swimmer of the Year for the second year in a row. These athletes will compete in the Division 1 sectional on February 14 and 15.

  • At the State Track and Field Clinic on February 8, East High School alumnus Matt Fisher was inducted into the Wisconsin Track Coaches Association (WISTCA) Hall of Fame. Congrats! This is the second consecutive year that East has had an athlete inducted. Last year, alumnus Ray Neosh was also inducted to the WISTCA Hall of Fame.
