2026 Summer Meals Kick Off

To ensure students have access to nutritious meals all year long, the Green Bay Area Public School District kicked off its Summer Meals program on June 10, 2026. 

Green Bay Area Public Schools Director of Food Services Lynette Kiehnau, City of Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich, and Brown County Library Youth Services Manager Katie Guzek celebrated the kick off at the Brown County Library - East Branch. New GBAPS Superintendent Michael Hernandez was also in attendance. 

Meals are served at a variety of community locations, including city parks and libraries. Community partners, including several Brown County Library locations, help children access nutritious meals all summer long. Guzek said area libraries look forward to hosting lunches each year, while also providing educational programming.

“It has been so rewarding and joyful to connect children with the library and a free healthy lunch,” Guzek said. “Children can enjoy lunch with family and friends, while the library can share information about programs and resources. We often try to plan programs around lunch so kids can attend a library program and then stay for lunch.”

Summer meals are available at no cost ($0) for all children 18 years old and younger, in our community, not only those enrolled into GBAPS or those eligible for free or reduced meal benefits. Children are allowed one breakfast and lunch meal per day. 

Meals are available for purchase by adults (those who are 19 and older) with cash only.
