School Year 2021-22 Meal Plans

School meals are safe!

Information for Parents & Guardians

This school year, all GBAPSD students will receive free meals under the  Seamless Summer Option program (SSO). The USDA has extended the flexibility for school districts to provide free meals to students, and GBAPSD Food Service Department has elected to participate in this program. All students are eligible for meals at no charge. Families are encouraged to continue applying for the Free & Reduced Meal Benefits as usual, to certify children for free or reduced price meal eligibility status. The eligibility status, however, is not required for the free school meals through SSO but it does establish eligibility for other benefits, such as state reporting, Pandemic EBT (P-EBT), and other community programs. Visit our webpage https://foodservice.gbaps.org/menus_meal_prices or https://foodservice.gbaps.org/free_reduced_meal_program  for more information. Please read more in our letter to families, below.

Menu Change Concerns

All schools will serve breakfast and lunch this year.  Included in the impacts of the pandemic are nationwide supply chain and product shortages. Please read more about our concerns in our letter to families, below. Our most updated menu is always kept online at https://gbaps.nutrislice.com/ and on the NutriSlice app.

Serving Breakfast & Lunch

All schools will serve breakfast and lunch this year. Many elementary schools are serving breakfast in the classroom. Students in high school with open campus policies are able to take their meals and leave campus with them.
Students will need to provide their student ID when they want to purchase a la carte "add-on" items such as extra milk, beverages, chips, cookies, etc, for items not included in the meal price. All meals are served at $0 to students. Students are allowed one meal in each category, per day, at this free rate. Secondary school kitchens will have a list of available a la carte items for sale.

After-School Programs

Schools with the District, YMCA, or Boys & Girls Club after-school programs will have dinner and snack available to them. These are programs offered through the Extended Learning Department, except at middle and high schools.
Elementary schools: students will be served snack and can take home a dinner (except at Eisenhower, students will be served dinner and offered snack to take home)
Secondary schools: students will be served both dinner and snack

Virtual Learner Meal Pick-up Locations

We will be offering pick-up of our daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack) on days when school is in session, for students learning virtually at our GBAPS Online School or JDAL Online School or are learning virtually due to COVID-19 quarantine. These four meals are only available for GBAPSD students enrolled in our district who are not already receiving the daily meal at school. Parent/Guardian will need to provide the name of the school their child attends when picking up these meals.
Breakfast and Lunch will be available for children not yet in school or who are 18 years old and younger. These two meals are only available if the student did not already receive them at school during the day.
All safety protocols will be strictly enforced.  Meals are available when school is in session. Menu subject to change.
